10XNorth meets you at the Magic Ice Bar on Kaigata and drives about 25 minutes to Kaldfjord. After a safety briefing of about 20 minutes you float for around 45 minutes in a neoprene survival suit. You do not need to be able to swim.
Towels, tea, coffee and freshly made Norwegian waffles are part of the trip, and so are the photos and videos the guides take and a diploma. Evening departures from October to March can bring northern lights. The operator says a little water can get into the suit, so bring dry clothes to change into. Anyone over 70, under 35 kg or over 135 kg cannot join, and neither can people with heart problems, high blood pressure, back problems or impaired hearing.

Floating, sauna or both at a wooden sauna on the shore. Fixed time slot, own way there.
A floating session and a wooden sauna on the shore of Kaldfjord, at Ropnesvegen 82. You book floating only, sauna only or both together. The floating part comes with a flotation suit, a safety briefing and supervision by the staff. The sauna has panoramic windows facing the fjord and the mountains, and a towel is included.
You choose a day or an evening session; each booking is for a fixed time slot, not for the whole day. On dark evenings in the aurora season the northern lights can appear, though the operator does not promise them. Transport is not included: you get to Kaldfjord on your own, and groups of 10 or more can ask for a transfer at extra cost.

From the GetYourGuide product pages, checked in October 2026. Ramfjordbotn lists 100 minutes for the guided tour and floating together, so the time in the water is shorter. The harbour float lists up to 1.5 hours in the water.
You meet at the Magic Ice Bar at Kaigata 4 and drive about 25 minutes to Kaldfjord. The programme lists a short stop, a safety briefing of about 20 minutes, then about 45 minutes of floating in a neoprene survival suit. You do not need to swim; one guest writes that not everyone in her group could. At the end comes tea, coffee and freshly made Norwegian waffles, which several guests mention with brunost, the brown Norwegian cheese. Towels, photos and videos from the guides and a diploma are included. Guests also describe jumping into the water at the end. One guest in summer found the float a useful lesson in how to stay safe in cold water, which matches what the Norwegian sea rescue society Redningsselskapet advises after a fall into cold water: lie back and keep your nose and mouth above the surface until the cold shock passes.
10XNorth writes that a little water can sometimes get into the suit and asks you to bring dry clothes; dryers are available at the base. Two critical reviews from March 2025 say the suits vary, some leaked while others were new, and one guest wished for clearer instructions before getting in. Another guest in February 2026 was still waiting for the photos and videos. Pack a full change of clothes and allow a few days for the pictures.
At Ropnesvegen 82 you book one of three options: floating only, sauna only, or both. The floating part includes a flotation suit, a safety briefing and supervision by the staff. The sauna is a wooden building with panoramic windows facing the fjord and the mountains, and a towel is included. You choose a day or an evening slot; each booking covers a fixed time, not the whole day. There is no transport for small groups, so this works for guests with a car; groups of 10 or more can ask for a transfer at extra cost. The session is new and has no reviews yet. The product page states no age, height or weight limits; ask the operator before booking if anyone in your group is near the limits other tours use.
The session on Kaldfjord uses a sauna on the shore. The floating saunas in the city harbour are other businesses and are not part of any tour on this site.
10XNorth runs evening departures from October to March, with a chance of northern lights over the fjord. The sauna offers evening sessions in the aurora season and says plainly that sightings cannot be guaranteed. 10XNorth also mentions that floating among ice is possible in Kaldfjord in winter. More on aurora and ice.
The weight window is 35 to 135 kg and the upper age is 70. The product page rules out people with heart problems, high blood pressure, back problems, limited mobility or impaired hearing, as well as wheelchair users. It names no minimum age, so ask before booking with children.
Three of these reviews give three stars: leaking suits on some guests, a wish for clearer instructions, and photos that took a long time to arrive. The sauna session has no reviews yet, so it does not appear here.
“We did this activity in March 2026. It was an incredible experience! […] we felt safety, even though not everyone in our group knew how to swim. We did the activity in the evening, in the dark, and it was very very funny, we laughed a lot. They took lots of pictures and videos for us […] and at the end we also received diplomas. The waffles with brunost and hot chocolate were super delicious! It is recommended to have extra clothes with you in case you get wet.”
“The activity involved a lot more than I expected which was really cool. Our guides Ola and Paolo were awesome, really took care of the group and were also a lots of fun.”
“Paolo was the best guide and make for us special atmosphere. We felt safety. Jump was the best fun.”
“The tour guide was very enthusiastic and responsible, but the clothes were really problematic, some of them leaked, but my friend's were very new, so it depends on your luck! But it was fun, and after the tour, there were waffles made by the tour guide himself!”
“Carl was good and the experience too But we are still waiting for our photos & vídeos”
“The experience can be more organised: 1. There should be suggestion to bring extra clothing or towel as some people do get wet slightly and may like to change up before the place. 2. Before getting into the water, instructions on how to stand on water should be given. […] as it was late at night, I cant find my partner so it wasn’t so fun when you are floating alone. […] I like that waffles were served at the end of the whole session”
